‘The Simpsons’ & ‘Star Wars’ Create Crossover Short for May the Fourth

According to a press release on May 2, Disney+ announced it would be releasing Maggie Simpson in ‘Rogue Not Quite One’, a new short from The Simpsons, on May 4 in honor of Star Wars day. In the short, Maggie hops in Grogu’s hovering pam for an adventure across the galaxy after Homer loses track of her. Maggie brings the battle to Springfield while facing a squadron of Imperial TIE fighters.

Maggie Simpson in Rogue Not Quite One is the newest in the collection of The Simpsons shorts created exclusively for Disney+. Previous shorts include The Simpsons meet the Bocellis in ‘Feliz Navidad’, The Simpsons in Plusaversary, Welcome to the Club, Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens from Its Nap’, When Billie Met Lisaand The Good, The Bart, and The Loki. All of the shorts are currently available to stream on Disney+.

The Simpsons comes from creator Matt Groening (Disenchantment, Futurama) and is developed by James L. Brooks (Terms of Endearment, The Edge of Seventeen) and Sam Simon (Phenom, The George Carlin Show). It is the longest-running scripted primetime television show in history.

The Simpsons is produced by Gracie Films Production in Association with 20th Television Animation. It is executive produced by Brooks, Groening, Al Jean (The Critic, Teen Angel), and Matt Selman (When Billie Met Lisa, The Simpsons Movie).

The series stars Nancy Cartwright (Kim Possible, Rugrats), Dan Castellaneta (Hey Arnold!, Futurama), Hank Azaria (The Smirfs, Anastasia), Julie Kavner (The Tracy Ullman Show, Rhoda), and Harry Shearer (This is Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wand).

Season one of The Simpsons first aired on December 17, 1989 on Fox. As of May 7, 2023, there are 748 episodes of The Simpsons. It is currently airing its 34th season through spring 2023. The series is available to stream on Disney+.
