According to Comicbook, The Roku Channel has just revealed an official trailer for The Spiderwick Chronicles. This will be the first time that the series will be adapted into live-action television adaptation. Originally scrapped by Disney+ in August 2023, the series found a new home at Roku.

According to Comicbook, it is based on the widely known best-selling book franchise by Tony DiTerlizzi (Charlotte’s Web) and Holly Black (The Spiderwick Chronicles the Video Game). The series will follow the Grace family moving from Brooklyn, New York to Henson, Michigan. They move to their ancestral home, named the Spiderwick Estate. After moving to their new home one of the family members, a boy named Jared, realizes there’s more to the house than meets the eye. He discovers a Boggart, a magical creature that is the first step to Jared and his family being introduced to a whole new world of unique magical creatures.
The cast for the series includes Joy Bryant (Get Rich or Die Tryin’) as Helen Grace, Mychala Lee (End of the Road) as Mallory Grace, Lyon Daniels (We Can Be Heroes) as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell (Boys of Summer) as Simon Grace, Jack Dylan Grazer (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) as Thimbletack, Momona Tamada (Avatar: The Last Airbender) as Emiko, Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) as Calliope, Christian Slater (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) as Mulgarath, and many others.
The first season of the series will have a total of eight episodes in which the first two will be directed by Kat Coiro (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law). Coiro will also serve as executive producer alongside showrunner Aron Eli Coleite (Locke & Key).
The series will be available to stream for free on April 19th on The Roku Channel.
