‘The Purge’ TV Series to be Directed by Anthony Hemingway

USA Network and Syfy will have Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway direct the television adaptation for the horror movies, The Purge. Hemingway, whom helmed The People v. O. J. Simpson, will direct the first episode of the series. His latest project was USA’s Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. He won an Emmy and Golden Globe for directing and co-executive producing American Crime Story. He has also directed episodes for: UndergroundBattlestar Galactica, American Horror Story, Orange Is The New Black, Empire, and Shameless.

James DeMonaco is the creator of The Purge franchise. He oversees the entire franchise (the movies and the television adaptation) and he will also write and co-produce the television series. The premise of the show is that one day in every year murder and mayhem is legal. This is the day where there is twelve hours of lawlessness. The next movie and the show is expected to premiere at the same time.

The cast will include: Gabriel Chavarria, Jessica Garza, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell. DeMonaco will executive produce the series along with Jason Blum (Blumhouse), Michael Bay, Brad Fuller (Platinum Dunes), Andrew Form, and Sebastien K. Lemercier. The showrunner for the series is Thomas Kelly.
