‘The Purge’ Adds a Trio of Cast Regulars

USA Network and Syfy have added three cast members for their series The Purge to preform regular roles: Lili Simmons, Hannah Anderson, and Lee Tergesen. The idea of the story is that one day every year murder and mayhem is legal. This news comes week after they snagged Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning director Anthony Hemingway to direct the pilot episode. James DeMonaco (creator) will oversee the lawless series. It will also launch with the next movie The First Purge.

Simmons will play as Lila. Her character is a young, rich, and rebellious woman. She refuses to agree with the pro-Purge societal group. She hides her vulnerability with her confidence and charm; however, this will be exposed as she tries to deal with her unfinished business before dawn. As of right now, Simmons can be seen playing in Ray Donovan and Bad Match. She has also played roles in HBO’s Westworld and True Detective, as well as, Cinemax’s Banshee, and CBS’ Hawaii Five O

Anderson will take on the role of Jenna. She is an anti-Purge activist and is also devoted to charity causes. During the night of the Purge she usually locks down. However during this Purge, she actually chooses to go out for the first time. This leads her to violence and then has to deal with the truths about herself and her marriage. Anderson just finished playing in X-Men‘s New Mutants. She has also played in Legacy, Saw, and What Keeps You Alive. She has also been a part of CWs Reign, Canadian series Shoot the Messenger, and History Channel’s Gangland Undercover.

Tergesen will play the role of Joe. He seems like an ordinary man, but he drives around the town to intervene during the Purge’s violence. He He is a masked and armored man that listens to a motivational life coach’s taped lectures. Tergesen has starred in HBO’s Oz and season two of The Americans. He will also be seen in NBC Universal/International series Gone and the feature The Yellow Birds.

They will join the cast which will include: Gabriel Chavarria, Jessica Garza, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell. The executive producers for the series will be: DeMonaco, Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Sebastien K. Lemercier. Thomas Kelly will be the showrunner.
