The Production Of AMC’s ‘Interview With The Vampire’ Halted Due To SAG-AFTRA Strike

The first season of AMC’s Interview With The Vampire premiered in October of 2022. The series was already renewed for second season one month before the first season was released. However, fans of the series will have to wait for the second season as production has been halted. According to Deadline, this decision was made due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The SAG-AFTRA, which is a union that represents about 160,000 actors, decided to go on strike. The strike took effect on July 14th, and many U.S. productions have been paused since.

As Deadline notes, Interview With The Vampire has been filming in Prague and thus is not a production based in the U.S. Additionally, the series has a primarily international cast. Nonetheless, though, AMC explained that the series still had to be paused as many of the stars are under SAG contracts.

Created by Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights, Boardwalk Empire), the series Interview With The Vampire is based on the Gothic novel written by Anne Rice (The Vampire Estate, The Queen of the Damned) in 1976. The series is set in the 1910s and revolves around Louis de Pointe du Lac, a vampire played by Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones, Overlord). His story is told through the eyes of the journalist Daniel Molloy, played by Eric Bogosian (Succession, Talk Radio). The series tackles topics such as love, family, and immortality.

Other stars of the show include Sam Reid (Belle, The Railway Man) as Lestat de Lioncourt, Bailey Bass (Avatar: The Way of Water, A Gift of Murder) as Claudia, Assad Zaman (Apple Tree Yard, Hotel Portofino) as Rashid, Christian Robinson (BMF, Burning Sands) as Levi, and more.

Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, filming for numerous television productions had to stop temporarily. AMC’s Interview With The Vampire, unfortunately, met the same fate.
