‘The Lion Guard’ Disney’s Upcoming Series to Follow ‘The Lion King’

It’s been a little over 20 years since “The Lion King,” one of Disney’s most successful animated films was released.

According to Entertainment Weekly, In response to high ratings for the recently premiered TV movie “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar,” Disney decided to follow through with developing a new TV series called “The Lion Guard.” The TV series will be an animated cable show following the “The Lion King.”

Disney Channel, announced last Wednesday that the show would premiere on January 15 on the Disney channel.

“The Lion Guard” will follow the adventures of Kion (Max Charles), who is Simba’s second-born cub. Additionally the show will also feature Nala (Gabrielle Union), Makuu (Blair Underwood), leader of the crocodiles, Reirei (Ana Gasteyer), a mischievous jackal, and Jasiri (Ana Kion), a kind hyena. Kion and his animal friends join forces to defend their home.
