‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Releases New Trailer For Season 5

Hulu has released a new trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the streaming service’s hit series The Handmaid’s Tale. The upcoming fifth season will be released on September 14th and will premiere with two brand new episodes followed by weekly single episodes.

The official teaser synopsis reads, per TV Line: “June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”

The returning series regulars include Elisabeth Moss (Top Of The Lake), Bradley Whitford (The West Wing), Yvonne Strahovski (The Tomorrow War), Max Minghella (Elvis And Annabelle), O-T Fagbenle (I Could Never Be Your Woman), Samira Wiley (Orange Is The New Black), Ann Dowd (Lambs Of God), Madeline Brewer (The Deleted), Amanda Brugel (Sex After Kids), and Sam Jaeger (Why Women Kill).

The series has been nominated for 75 Emmy awards dating back to its premiere in 2017 and has won 15. Moss has been nominated three times for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series and has won once in 2017. The show has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series four times and has won once also in 2017.

The Handmaid’s Tale is created by Bruce Miller (The Stranger Beside Me), who also serves as an executive producer along with Moss, Warren Littlefield (The Old Man), Kim Todd (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency), Sheila Hockin (Into The Badlands), Kira Snyder (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Eric Tuchman (Stranger With My Face), Yahlin Chang (Shades Of Blue), Mike Barker (The Sandman), Fran Sears (Here’s Boomer), and Daniel Wilson (The Powers Of Matthew Star).
