‘The Good Place’ Star Jameela Jamil To Guest Star In BBC’s ‘The Split Up’

Jameela Jamil, known for her performances in The Good Place and She Hulk: Attorney at Law is primed to make guest appearance on BBC’s The Split Up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series, based on Abi Morgan’s (Shame, The Iron Lady) previous hit show The Split, is set in the world of Manchester’s high-net-worth divorce circuit and focuses on the Kishan family, powerhouse British South Asian law firm whose success, secrets and loyalties are about to be tested, according to the official synopsis provided by The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress this week posed with Ritu Arya (Red Notice, The Umbrella Academy), who protrays Aria Kishan, while filming was ongoing. Jamil’s last television appearance was in 2023’s crime dramedy Poker Face.

Beyond the screen, Jamil has made a name for herself as a radio personality and an activist. She has frequently criticized diet culture and the media’s promotion of unhealthy body standards for women. In 2018, she created an Instagram account called I Weigh, which she described as a “movement… for us to feel valuable and see how amazing we are, and look past the flesh on our bones.”

Morgan’s The Split, for which frontwoman Nicola Walker (MI-5, River) received a National Television Awards nomination for best drama performance, received rave reviews from critics and general audiences alike, with The Guardian calling it “gorgeously slick production.” Stephen Mangan (Green Wing, Breathe) and Annabel Scholey (The Sixth Commandment, Dead and Buried) star alongside Walker in that series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan has previously won an Emmy for her writing on The Hour, and has scored numerous BAFTA awards and nominations.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sanjeev Bhaskar (YesterdayUnforgotten), Aysha Kala (Criminal RecordVirdee), Arian Nik (Count AbdullaFilm Club), Danny Ashok (C.B. StrikeDinosaur), Dimitri Leonidas (CenturionThose About to Die), Mawaan Rizwan (Juice, Sex Education), Sindhu Vee (Matilda: The Musical, Picture This), Shalini Peiris (The White Lotus, The Ark) and Tom Forbes (KnightfallQueenie) headline The Split Up with Arya, while Lenny Henry (The Sandman, Three Little Birds) and Jane Horrocks (Life Is Sweet, Little Voice) guest star alongside Jamil.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is written by Ursula Rani Sarma (Smother, Delicious), while Morgan is executive producer with Sarma, Jane Featherstone (Black Doves, Coldwater) and Bryony Arnold (Code of Silence, Peaky Blinders).
