The Flash Season Eight Explained And Season Nine Anticipation

The Flash will be coming to an anticipated end with nine seasons and nine years behind its belt. Not before its eighth season is explained. There’s a deleted scene in season eight of The Flash, titled “Into the Still Force,” that headlines Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin (Glee, 90210), attempting to surprise his wife, Iris, played by Candice Patton (The Craigslist Killer, The Guest), but ended up getting a surprise himself. The episode follows The Flash and his mission to find his wife, Iris, who had disappeared at the end of the previous episode, according to ScreenRant.

In the deleted scene, Barry Allen attempts to surprise Iris at her job but alternatively receives surprising news from her staff at the Central City Citizen Media, according to ScreenRant.

In Season 7, episode 4, Abra Kadabra, played by David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, The Suicide Squad), referenced The Chronarch and warns The Flash that he would be doing The Flash a favor by killing him before he even gets the opportunity to face off with The Chronarch. Nothing resulted from the reference to The Chronarch, however, according to TVLine, there was going to be a callback to the reference in that episode in the eighth season finale, but ultimately it got cut.

“Funny you should ask this particular question, because last season’s finale actually had a callback to that Easter egg, but it got cut — and TVLine soon will have an exclusive peek at that very curious, deleted scene,” their report says.

In reference to the upcoming villains in season nine, there was a recent announcement that Richard Harmon (The 100, Bates Motel) has been cast as Owen Mercer, also known as Captain Boomerang in intermittent status. According to Comicbook, Harmon will be the second actor to play an incarnation of Captain Boomerang in the Arrowverse, which The Flash is a part of, although it is unclear whether there is a connection to Nick Tarabay’s carnation of Captain Boomerang, who was killed off in Arrow‘s fifth season.

Sadly, the ninth season will be The Flash‘s final season, as it was announced in August by Comicbook.

“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor, and spectacle,” exclaimed The Flash showrunner, Eric Wallace, in a statement. “And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time, and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honor the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers, and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”

The Flash is said to be the final Earth-Primebased series on The CW and is set to return to the network in 2023.
