‘The Expanse’ To Conclude With Sixth Season

Amazon Prime Video’s The Expanse is slated to conclude with its sixth season, set to debut on December 16, according to The Hollywood ReporterAfter the final season’s premiere, the show will have aired for three seasons on Amazon and three initially on Syfy. After the network cancelled it in 2018, it was moved to Amazon.

The Expanse is based hundreds of years in the future as humans have seemingly colonized the solar system with Mars becoming an independent military power and being involved in a war with Earth. The Amazon show stars Steven Strait (The Covenant), Dominique Tipper (The Girl with All The Gifts), Cas Anvar (The Operative), and Wes Chatham (The Hunger Games). All cast members will return for the final season except for Anvar, who is currently facing several allegations of sexual misconduct.

Executive producers Andrew Kosove (Dolphin Tale) and Broderick Johnson (Blade Runner) said in a statement of the cancellation, “From the moment we committed to bringing this show to life up until this final season, we have worked tirelessly to honor the vision of the writers. We have prided ourselves on having one of the most diverse casts on television and giving a platform to stories that matter…A special thanks to Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, the writers of both the books and series, and to Naren Shankar, the series showrunner and executive producer. It continues to be an honor and privilege to work with this team. We also would like to thank Amazon for their continuing support to help us tell this story in its fullest and to bring The Expanse to a global audience,” via The Hollywood Reporter

The sixth and final season of the Amazon sci-fi show will debut next month.
