The CW is Developing A Pilot for Original Series Based off New DC Character Naomi

As it turns out, one of DC comics newest heroes Naomi has gained some traction at The CW and it’s up to Ava Duvernay (Producer, When They See Us) to create the pilot for a new potential series, according to ComicBook. DuVernay is set to make this original drama series with the help of established Arrow writer and producer Jill Blankenship. This will be the first time DC comics fans see Naomi heading a live action series and if this pilot pulls out all the right stops, fans can look forward to a full series that would air on The CW.

Naomi’s origin takes place in an alternate universe where her earth is experiencing catastrophic events due to environmental consequences such as the total destruction of its ozone layer. As a special type of radiation leaks through the ozone, a handful of people were given superhuman abilities. The radiation granted these powers to 29 different people across different areas of the world, as these heroes developed so did their grasp on their newfound powers. Eventually, a civil war broke out between two factions of these super humans, one faction fighting to protect the innocent, and another fighting to seize power and take over the world.

Naomi comes in as the offspring of two of these original heroes, while their names remain a mystery for now, fans would be interested to learn more if The CW decides to expand on Naomi’s parents. The pair of them send Naomi away to protect her from the deadliest super powered being from their earth named Zumbado. A ruthless conqueror and powerhouse, Zumbado’s vendetta to kill Naomi fails when she is safely escorted by her parents to the universe where Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and all of the other fan favorite superheroes reside, this universe is called Prime Universe.

The CW has released an official synopsis regarding what the new series will entail, “A local teenager named Naomi starts looking into what happened the last time a super-being visited her hometown–and how that visit might tie into her own origins as an adopted child. But Naomi’s seemingly harmless curiosity exposes more than just her family’s startling secrets–it attracts the attention of forces that could threaten the Earth itself! Learning the truth about her heritage will turn Naomi’s life upside down. Can she learn to control her uncanny new abilities and come to terms with her strange new place in the world before it’s too late?” The official synopsis reads, according to ComicBook.

DC fans will have to cross their fingers and hope the pilot generates the momentum the series needs to receive the green light so they can watch the adventures of Naomi unfold in a new original series. The real question on fan’s minds will be if this new series will be included in the Arrowverse, with shows like Superman and Lois, The Flash, and others.
