‘The Big Leap’ Picked Up By Fox

The Big Leap, which was initially ordered to pilot last year, was given a series order by Fox, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights) was inspired by a U.K. format.

The dramedy follows a group of diverse characters participating in a reality dance show, which builds up to a live production of Swan Lake, in hopes of changing their lives. While the group of underdogs lacks immense training, they make up for it with wit and desire. The Big Leap was in the middle of producing the pilot last year when the industry-wide pandemic shutdown occurred.

As the latest series pick up for Fox, the upcoming series joins Lee Daniels’ (The United States v. Billie Holiday), Paul Feig’s (BridesmaidsThis Country, and the summer entry Fantasy Island. Fox has also given a series order to an untitled animated comedy from Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty), which is expected in 2022.
