‘Terminator’ TV Series in the Works

Terminator is going from the big screen to the small screen with Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures teaming up to bring the franchise back to TV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers for the 2015 Terminator movie have asked Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, writers for Thor and X-Men: First Class, to write and executive produce the new series to coincide with the movie reboot. Both creative teams from the film and TV series are working together for the new project.

The series will take a critical moment from the Terminator film and take that critical moment in a different direction. Both narratives from the film reboot and the TV series will intersect with each other. Megan Ellison (Annapurna) will produce the TV series along with David Ellison (Skydance), Chief Creative Officer of Skydance Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross (Skydance). Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier will executive produce.

The first feature film in the Terminator trilogy will have a release from Paramount Pictures on July 1, 2015. Alan Taylor will direct. Kalogridis and Lussier will write. Megan Ellison (Annapurna) and David Ellison (Skydance) will produce, while Goldberg and Paul Schwake (Skydance) executive produce the film.

Expected to reprise his role in the trilogy, Arnold Schwarzenegger is tasked to protect Sarah Connor.

The Terminator franchise has seen three sequels that have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide at the box office.
