Teaser Trailer of ‘Citadel’ Spinoff Released by Prime Video

A new spy cinematic universe is in the works at Prime Video. According to Comicbook, Prime Video released the teaser trailer for their Citadel spinoff Citadel: Diana. The spy cinematic universe is the work of The Russo Brothers (From), best known for directing Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. They debuted the first season of Citadel in April and during the season finale, the new spinoff was set up.

According to Comicbook, the spinoff was set up with post-credit scene that begins with a frame of Matilda De Angelis’ (The Law According to Lidia Poët, Robbing Mussolini) character before it was announced that the Citadel Spyverse expands before revealing the name of the spinoff as Citadel: Diana. It was also revealed that the new show was going to premiere in 2024. Watch the teaser below.

The spinoff already wrapped production, which means Citadel: Diana will not be affected by the WGA strike. The show was shot earlier this year in Italy and was directed by Arnaldo Catinari (Vita da Carlo, Suburra: Blood on Rome). Citadel: Diana was developed by Alessandro Fabbri (Fidelity, The Trial), who also served as head writer.

The cast of Citadel: Diana includes De Angelis; Lorenzo Cervasio (Il paradiso delle signore, Il grande gioco); Maurizio Lombardi (The Name of the Rose, Robbing Mussolini); Julia Piaton (Serial Bad Weddings, House of Time); Thekla Reuten (Warrior Nun, Red Sparrow); Giordana Faggiano (I Am the Abyss, State a casa); Daniele Paoloni (Marilyn’s Eyes); Bernhard Schütz (Sense8, A Most Wanted Man); and Filippo Nigro (Suburra: Blood on Rome, Facing Windows).

As for the second season of Citadel, some information has already been revealed. Joe Russo (Cherry, The Gray Man) will be directing all the episodes for the second season of the show with David Weil (Hunters, Invasion) continuing to serve as the showrunner for the show.

The show follows the story of the independent global spy agency, Citadel, and its agents. Citadel fell eight years prior. The agency’s job was to uphold the safety and security of everyone but it was destroyed by Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. When the Citadel fell, its elite agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped death. The spies have managed to remain hidden and build new lives. Until one night, Mason is tracked by a former Citadel colleague who needs their help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner Nadia, and the two embark on a mission that will take them around the world to stop Manticore while dealing with a relationship built on lies, secrets, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.

The cast of the show includes Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Eternals) as Mason Kane; Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Baywatch, The Matrix Resurrections) as Nadia Sinh; Stanley Tucci (Inside Man, The King’s Man) as Bernard Orlick;  Ashleigh Cummings (Vide Noir, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) as Abby Conroy; and Lesley Manville (The Crown, Sherwood) as Dahlia Archer.

Citadel: Diana is set to premiere in 2024. The second season of Citadel is still in the early stages of preproduction and no premiere date has been given. The seven-episode first season is available to stream on Prime Video.
