TBS Orders Series from ‘Full Frontal’ Correspondent Amy Hoggart

TBS has ordered new show from Full Frontal with Samantha Bee correspondent Amy Hoggart. According to Deadline, TBS has said that the untitled new series “will tackle everyday problems through Hoggart’s unique kaleidoscope of humor.”

Each episode will blend scripted and unscripted parts and will focus on problems that make American lives more difficult. The “non-political” show will follow Hoggart, a wounded aspiring psychologist, who, each week, will tackle issues including “friendship and shame” and “monogamy and polyamory,” always trying to make people feel better.

Hoggart is known for her work as a correspondent on the show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, especially for her segments on current issues such as Brexit and Scotland. She also wrote and played in the series Almost Royal, according to Deadline.

“I’m so relieved to be finally getting my money’s worth after an expensive and so far useless psychology course,” Hoggart said about the new series. “I’ll be exploring the topics we all have hard time coping with, learn why we do the insane things we do, and unnecessarily demean myself for laughs. I’m beyond thrilled to continue my creative partnership with Sam and the wonderful team at TBS,” Hoggart added.

“Amy is an amazing talent that we’ve enjoyed watching blossom. Her irreverent style of storytelling combined with her hysterically smart onscreen presence will make for entertaining and insightful television,” Bee added.

“Amy shines as a Full Frontal correspondent with her smart, funny and accessible point of view,” said Thom Hinkle, executive VP original programming at TBS. “In this new series, she will depart from political commentary and tackle everyday issues with her unique brand of humor. Hopefully, she will come up with title before the show airs,” Hinkle added.

The executive producers include Samantha Bee, Tony Hernandez, Jax Media, Brooke Posch, and Leo Allen (Nathan for You, Review) who will also serve as the showrunner, while Amy Hoggart will also continue to work as a Full Frontal correspondent.
