Tales of the Walking Dead sets its initial cast for the Walking Dead anthology spin-off. According to Deadline, the cast is set to include Anthony Edwards (Zodiac, ER), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Poppy Liu (Dead Ringers), and Jillian Bell (Rough Night).
A spin-off of the popular AMC series, Tales of the Walking Dead is an episodic anthology where each episode focuses on both new and established characters of the franchise. The series is due for the summer on AMC and AMC+.
Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard), and Tara Nicole Weyr (The Wilds) have all tapped on to direct episodes and TWD producer Michael Satrazemis (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead) will direct three episodes.
Scott M. Gimple (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance), chief content creator of The Walking Dead, will serve as executive producer alongside Channing Powell, writer-producer on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
“Anthony, Jillian, Terry, Parker, and Poppy are the first wave of singular talents who will further expand the Walking Dead Universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying new realms and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family, along with these terrific directors. More announcements, more wonderful folks to come,” Gimple told Deadline.
Part two of the final season of The Walking Dead is due for February 20 on AMC. Tales is one of many upcoming projects from the franchise with a spin-off focused on Daryl and Carol and another focusing on a zombie outbreak in an underwater submarine.
