T.V. Carpio Set to Join Cast of NBC Hospital Drama Series ‘Chicago Med’

According to Deadline, NBC has just cast T.V. Carpio (Across the Universe, She Hate Me) in a recurring role for the hit medical drama series, Chicago Med. Carpio will purportedly portray Dr. Grace Song, the newest doctor at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center who is hired by the hospital’s wealthy new benefactor, Jack Dayton, played by Sasha Roiz (Grimm, Turning Red).

As written by Deadline, Grace’s sudden hiring comes as an abrupt but expected decision on the behalf of Jack Dayton, who bought controlling interest in the Gaffney Medical Group in the fall finale episode, “This Could Be the Start of Something New.” Grace’s arrival may not be the only dramatic turn facing the doctors and nurses at Gaffney Medical Center, especially for Sharon Goodwin, played by S. Epatha Merkerson (Lincoln, Lackawanna Blues), who seems to have a history with the successful but elusive Dayton.

Chicago Med follows the lives of the men and women who work for the emergency department at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center and the startling lengths they go through to save the lives of their patients. The show is executive produced by legendary cop-procedural creator Dick Wolf (the Law & Order franchise, the FBI franchise), Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider (The Sopranos, Northern Exposure), Stephen Hootstein (Covert Affairs, What About Brian), Derek Haas (Chicago Fire, FBI: International), Arthur Forney (Law & Order, FBI), Matt Olmstead (Prison Break, The Crossing), Michael Brandt (Overdrive, Chicago Justice), and Peter Jankowski (Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Chicago P.D.).

Carpio’s casting announcement comes directly after multiple cast exits including Brian Tee (The Wolverine, No Tears for the Dead), Ashja Cooper (Black As Night, There’s Someone Inside Your House), Sarah Rafferty (The Devil Wear Prada, Suits), Kristen Hager (Blood and Money, Condor), and Guy Lockard (The Village, All About Steve).

Season eight of Chicago Med will return to the small screen on January 4, 2023.
