Star Wars New Series ‘The Acolyte’ Is Set To Be Darker Than ‘Andor’

The much anticipated Disney+ original The Acolyte is set to have much darker tone for a Star Wars series than even Andor according, to ScreenRant. The series just began its production in October and most likely will not be expected to release until late 2023 or even early 2024. Unlike Andor which focused on the Empire and Rebellion, The Acolyte will focus on a much darker side of the franchise that features occult powers.

The Disney+ mystery thriller The Acolyte will be a series that will lead fans to the dark shadowy side of space. The series will focus on the Sith attempting to infiltrate the Jedi order 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I,  and it follows a former Padawan and a Jedi Master who reunite and investigate a series of crimes during the dark and final days of the High Republic era. This will lead them to confront forces that are more sinister and surging with dark-sided powers.

According to ScreenRant, lead actress Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials, Logan) gave details that the Star Wars series will be unique since it focuses more on the Sith. It is also stated that this series will be one of  Disney+’s riskiest shows since it focuses more on the dark side of Star Wars. With the series focusing on the Sith, the show may contain new Sith abilities or even more info about other abilities that have been teased throughout different fan-favorite shows and films.

Throughout the Star Wars franchise, the Sith have been one of the main antagonists. It consists of an order of force-wielders who have devoted their time and power to the dark side. The most known members of the order are Darth Maul, Darth Sidious, and his even more known apprentice, Darth Vader.

While Star Wars fans wait for more information and the official release date of The Acolyte, many will be happy to know that The Bad Batch season two is right around the corner premiering January 4, 2023, following The Mandalorian season three scheduled for March 2023.
