The cable network has ordered the series based on the feature film from 2010.
Dominion is a supernatural action drama set in the futuristic year 25 A.E. and it shows a battle between good and evil angels. The series follow the story of a young soldier who discovers that the he is the savior of the humanity.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,the Syfy president, Dave Howe said, “Following the critical success of Defiance and the upcoming Ron Moore thriller Helix, Dominion will be the next major addition to Syfy’s growing slate of high-quality scripted series.” Howe said in addition, “Dominion will continue Syfy’s new strategy to commission stand-out genre series that deliver the high stakes, sci-fi/fantasy experience our audience demands and embraces.”
Scott Stewart will direct and executive produce the pilot alongside Michel Litvak and David Lancaster (who also produced The Legion). Dominion will start Alex Lannen, Tom Wisdom (300), Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones), Alan Dale (Lost), Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Luke Alles-Gale (The Borgias).
The series will premiere in 2014.
