SXSW Announces 2014 Comedy Lineup, Starting With An Evening With Bill Cosby

South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual music, film and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas since 1987. As part of their ten-day festival, SXSW holds a comedy lineup, which will kick off with well-known actor Bill Cosby.

Today, SXSW announced its full 2014 comedy lineup. As reported by Paste Magazine, the headlining event to kick off the comedy portion will be An Evening With Bill Cosby, hosted by Funny or Die and followed by an after party featuring music from Chromeo.

Known mostly for his various television roles, specifically his NBC comedy series The Bill Cosby Show, and later, The Cosby Show, the seventy-six-year-old actor and comedian began his career in stand-up comedy. Though there has been speculation that Cosby may be heading back to NBC to star in an upcoming comedy, his appearance at SXSW will be one of his few recent commitments and even fewer recent stand-up shows.

Returning to SXSW from last year’s comedy event is Upright Citizens Brigade, which was arguably the funniest act of 2013’s festival. In addition podcasts such as Comedy Bang! Bang!, Girl on Guy, The Todd Barry Podcast, You Made It Weird, and Who Charted? will attending, alongside numerous Saturday Night Live alumni.

SXSW Comedy will take place March 8-15. For the full comedy lineup, click here.
