‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ Stage Play Reveals First Act Title and Production Photo

The Upside-down is coming to the stage. As the arrival of the play adaptation of the hit sci-fi series Stranger Things is coming up quickly, fans are now getting more and more peeks into what the theatrical version of the series is going to look like. The Stranger Things play has revealed both a production image and the name of the first act right as previews have begun.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow fully opens to the public on December 14th at the Phoenix Theater on the West End. The show is composed of familiar tales from the town of Hawkins, but this production takes place much earlier than the original tale that we all know from the hit Netflix series as it is set in the year 1959. It also features some titular characters from the series such as Jim Hopper, Joyce Maldonado (yet to be Joyce Beyers), Dr. Brenner, and Victor Creel.

On Friday, November 17th it was revealed that the play’s first act is titled, “Chapter One: The Girl From Nowhere” and the official description of the production reads, “Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.”

The play will star Shane Attwooll (Wonder Woman 1984, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot), Oscar Lloyd (The 47th) Christopher Buckley (Stig of the Dump), Louis McCartney (Game of Thrones), Michael Jibson (Hamilton), Isabella Pappas (Finding Alice), Patrick Vaill (Oklahoma!, Macbeth), Lauren Ward (Dear Evan Hansen, Matilda), and Ella Karuna Williams (The Equalizer).

Stranger Things: The First Shadow opens officially on the West End on December 14th. Production of the fifth and final season of the TV series was put on hold due to the Hollywood strikes but is getting ready to go as the strikes have concluded. The first four seasons of the series Stranger Things are available to watch on Netflix.
