With only 6 months left until the premiere of Stranger Things Season 2, exciting details have started to trickle in from the show’s cast as they begin to promote the sequel season to last year’s smash-hit Netflix series. Many members of the show’s cast seem extremely excited for fans of Stranger Things to get their eyes on Season 2.
Indiwire reported on the most recent details that have been released concerning Stranger Things as Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler on the show) gave intriguing details on the emotional journeys that Mike and his fellow friends experience after the events of the first season in which their best friend Will goes missing, they learn about the existence of the “Upside Down”, fight the dreaded Demogorgon, and see their newfound friend Eleven mysteriously vanish – seemingly into thin air – during the season finale.
“I think they’re all very emotionally scarred,” Wolfhard reflects on the young characters of the show. “They feel a little bad because their best friend (Will) is back and he’s not acting like their best friend anymore. He’s changed.” The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, in fact confirmed earlier in February that one of the primary plot points of Season 2 will be Will’s suffering of a sort of post-traumatic stress disorder after his harrowing experience in the Upside Down.
Finn Wolfhard also touched upon the overarching tone of Season 2 and how, while the wildly entertaining heart of Stranger Things remains intact, the new season will bring darker, more frightening challenges to fans’ favorite characters. Wolfhard details, “There are going to be some challenges the characters face that are real, that are disturbing. This season will be a lot more dark, a lot more horror-oriented. I think people are going to like it better than the first season.” These are certainly some exciting words, considering the enormous popularity that Stranger Things enjoyed during its first season last summer.
The entirety of Stranger Things Season 2 will premiere this Halloween on Netflix.
