‘Stranger Things’ Cast Reunites For Season Four Table Read

Television’s favorite gang of monster-hunting middle schoolers is back, with the cast of Stranger Things reuniting for a season four table read. Netflix, who has owned the show since its humble beginnings in 2016, released a behind-the-scenes teaser early Tuesday morning.

The behind the scenes video showcases various members of the cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Caleb McLaughlin, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, Sadie Sinks, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and (spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen the recent teaser) David Harbour at a table read in Atlanta. Shot to look like an 80s home movie, the vertical video shows the cast reuniting for the first script reading of Stranger Things 4.

The video additionally features its supporting cast, including Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair),  Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), and Brett Gelman (Murray Bauman), who has been promoted to series regular this upcoming season. The Duffer Brothers, who run the show in addition to having created it, were also in attendance.

Stranger Things follows a group of scrappy middle schoolers living in Hawkins, Indiana, a fictional rural town in the early 1980s. The nearby Hawkins National Laboratory secretly experiments with the paranormal, and more specifically, the evil that lies below Hawkins in The Upside Down.

The sci-fi horror show originally premiered on Netflix in July 2016, becoming an instant cultural phenomenon and launching its young stars, including Brown, Wolfhard, Schnapp, Matarazzo, and McLaughlin, into mainstream fame. The series has released two additional seasons, aptly named Stranger Things 2 and 3, earning rave reviews for its characterization, writing, and style in homage to 80s films. Featuring icons of the decade including Ryder (Heathers, Beetlejuice) and Sean Astin (The Goonies), many credit the series with bringing 1980s nostalgia back into public consciousness.

Stranger Things 4 is currently in production, and is expected to debut on Netflix in 2020.
