In the wake of Peacemaker’s dramatic season two finale, viewers get answers on the series future by none other than James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad). According to Screenrant, the finale shows Christopher Smith, played by John Cena (Blockers, F9) abducted by Argus and gets thrown into salvation by Rick Flag Sr, played by Frank Grillo (Creature Commandos, Boss Level), along with other metahumans and criminals.
Gunn goes on to speak with Screenrant about his vision,”no, this is about the wider DCU and other stories in which this will play out right now. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be. I don’t want to never say never, but right now, no, this is about the future of the DCU. It’s an important character.’ This statement symbolizes that the character has a greater potential to be part of the new DCU and show up in later project such as the Supeman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
Reported by Screenrant, as of right now production on the potential third season of Peacemaker has been put on hold, until Gun and Peter Safran (Supergirl, Clayface) tries to focus on future plans and how to implicate the character within them.
James Gunn aims to bring lesser-known characters to life in his upcoming film. Notable characters include Mr. Terrific, portrayed by Edi Gathegi ( X-Men: First Class, House), Hawkgirl, played by Isabela Merced (The Last of Us, Madame Web), and Guy Gardner, portrayed by Nathan Fillion(Castle, The Rookie) a chance in the spotlight.
The plot of the potential third season could focus on the team locating and rescuing Chris from Salvation while escaping Argus forces and hopefully returning to their original dimension. While viewers await on the fate of the tiled character, the entire two seasons of Peacemaker are available to stream on HBO Max.
