Stranded: Amazon Prime Releases Trailer for Upcoming Series ‘The Wilds’

Hell is a teenage girl according to Amazon Prime’s upcoming original series The Wilds. Releasing the first trailer on Wednesday, it follows a plane crash that leaves a group of teenage girls stranded on a mysterious island. Nobody is safe, and sanity is at stake via Indiewire

The coming of age thriller depicts a group of high schoolers as they struggle to come to terms with reality. Struggling to survive on a secluded island, secrets from their pasts begin to haunt them. The official synopsis for The Wilds was picked up by Indiewire: “Part survival drama, part dystopic slumber party, ‘The Wilds’ follows a group of teen girls from different backgrounds who must fight for survival after a plane crash strands them on a deserted island. The castaways both clash and bond as they learn more about each other, the secrets they keep, and the traumas they’ve all endured. There’s just one twist to this thrilling drama… these girls did not end up on this island by accident.”

The series has an ensemble cast starring Sofia Ali (Grey’s Anatomy), Shannon Berry (Hunters), Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under), Jenna Clause (Cold Brook), Helena Howard (Madeline’s Madeline), Erana James (Golden Boy), Sarah Pidgeon (Gotham), and Mia Healey.

The trailer is reminiscent of the sci-fi thriller Lost, the immensely popular TV series that aired on ABC in the 2000s. The Wilds follows in its footsteps as we see a terrifying plane crash that leaves the girls on a strange and possibly supernatural island. There are also echos of Lost as the girls have flashbacks to their former lives, offering a window into their past. Giving clues into who they are and how they got to the island, the secrets the castaways keep could turn deadly.

The series will premiere December 11 on Amazon Prime Video, and that’s not all. Amazon will be making the first episode available to stream for free on Prime Video’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube pages from December 11-15. The Wilds is created by Sarah Streicher (Daredevil). She co-executive produces alongside Amy B. Harris (The Carrie Diaries), Dylan Clark (Bird Box), and Jamie Tarses (The Mayor).
