According to Deadline, it is clear that Stephen Colbert will not be stepping down quietly after CBS canceled The Late Show (The Colbert Report, Strangers with Candy). In a new clip from the series, Colbert responded to President Donald Trump’s (The Apprentice, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York) gleeful social media post about his firing. “How dare you, sir? Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go f*ck yourself,” he said into the “Eloquence Cam.”
As per MXDWN, Trump celebrated the surprise cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in a Truth Social post. “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel (Kimmy Kimmel Live!, The Man Show) is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld (Impaled: Painfully Blunt!, Gutfeld!) is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
According to Deadline, in regards to Trump’s comment about Kimmel, Colbert joked that no one was going to take this rather strange moment away from him. “Absolutely not, Kimmel. I am the martyr. There’s only room for one on this cross and I gotta tell you, the view is fantastic from up here,” he added.

As per Deadline, The Late Show was at the center of a protest from fans earlier in the evening, with crowds descending on the Ed Sullivan Theater to chant “Colbert Stays! Trump Must Go!” Colbert is expected to be joined by fellow late-night hosts on the show tonight, including Jimmy Fallon (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fever Pitch), Seth Meyers (Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers), John Oliver (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Love Guru) and Jon Stewart (Half Baked, The Daily Show).
CBS announced Thursday it was axing The Late Show for “financial reasons,” even though Colbert has been at the top of the late-night ratings via Deadline.
