Starz Releases Trailer and Premiere Date for ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

The upcoming spin-off series for Starz network, Power Book II: Ghost, has released its first full-length trailer and announced the premiere date for the series, according to Deadline. Created by Courtney A. Kemp (Power, The Good Wife), the series is a spin-off in the same narrative world as the premium network’s top drama series Power. Power centers on the life and tribulations of a drug dealer named Ghost, or James St. Patrick, as he attempts to remove himself from the criminal world he is so founded in while in search of establishing himself as a legitimate figure in the nightclub scene. Similar to its parent show, the spin-off program will be executive produced by Kemp, 50 Cent (Get Rich or Die Tryin’), Chris Selak, Danielle De Jesus (Dead Tone), Shana Stein (Monk, Django Unchained), and many more.

Power Book II: Ghost will act as a sequel series to Power as it will now follow the drug dealer Tariq, once more portrayed by Michael Rainey Jr. (Power, Orange Is the New Black), during his transition into college. The spin-off series’ cast also includes the likes of Mary J. Blige (Rock of Ages, Mudbound), Lovell Adams-Gray (Slasher), Paige Hurd (Hawaii Five-O), Method Man (The Wire), Shane Jonhson (Behind Enemy Lines), Naturi Naughton  (Notorious, Lottery Ticket), Gianni Paolo (Ma, The Mick), Justin Marcel McManus (Star), LaToya Tonodeo (The Oath), Kathleen Garrett (Billions), and Bradley Gibson (Mozart in the Jungle). The first season will premiere on September 6 and is also part of various Power spin-off series such as the prequel Power Book III: Raising Kanan and two sequel series in Power Book IV: Influence and Power Book V: Force

The parent show Power concluded its six-season run in February 2020 and this is the first announcement declaring when audiences are able to view the next chapter in the story’s world. Power is currently available for streaming in its entirety on Hulu. For Power and television fans, check out the first season trailer for the new spin-off series below:
