

Power fans rejoice, for Starz has ordered a new installment into the Power franchise. According to Deadline, The new series will be called Power: Legacy and brings back franchise stars Joseph Sikora (The Freak Brothers, Reasonable Doubt) and Michael Rainey Jr. (Power Book IV: Force, Power Book II: Ghost). Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn’t seen Power Book IV: Force.
For those who don’t know, Power is a gritty crime series that tells a story that follows the perilous double lives of high-level drug dealers, corrupt businessmen, and the authorities that pursue them. According to Deadline, Power: Legacy will be a continuation series that follow after the events of Power Book IV: Force. After cleaning house in the Windy City, Tommy established himself as the top dog of the criminal underworld. Tariq then recruits his surrogate uncle Tommy for help with New York.
According to Deadline, the series showrunner, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Street Fighter, Skillhouse), issued this statement to fans of the show: “Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet. Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City. Bringing Joseph and Michael back together is special; they’ve turned these characters into true icons of the Power universe.”
The series has also brought back a Power executive producer veteran, Gary Lennon (Euphoria, The 12th Victim). Lennon added, “I’m thrilled to reunite with Starz to bring this latest chapter of the Power Universe to fans and especially proud to be entrusted with continuing Tommy and Tariq’s story as showrunner on Power: Legacy. It’s going to be electrifying to see if these two men can share the city, the game, and the intoxicating drug known as POWER.”
We will have to wait for an official trailer for the new series. In the meantime, you can watch the original series and its spinoffs on Starz, in order to get caught up for the main event. Its prequel series, Raising Kanan, returns for its final season on June 12. And a second prequel, Power: Origins, is n production.
