‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed For Fourth Season

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a fourth season. This news comes ahead of the Season 3 premiere of the show which has been slated for 2025. Along with the news of this renewal, there also comes the cancellation of Star Trek: Lower Decks after the upcoming fifth season.

Deadline cited a note from Mike McMahan and Alex Kurtzman, which reads, “To the fans, We wanted to let you know that this fall will be the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. While five seasons of any series these days seems like a miracle, it’s no exaggeration to say that every second we’ve spent making this show has been a dream come true.”

Deadline noted that they added, “Our incredible cast, crew and artists have given you everything they have because they love the characters they play, they love the world we’ve built, and more than anything we all love love love Star Trek. We’re excited for the world to see our hilarious fifth season which we’re working on right now, and the good news is that all previous episodes will remain on Paramount+ so there is still so much to look forward to as we celebrate the Cerritos crew with a big send-off.”

While the news of Star Trek: Lower Decks saddened fans, the renewal of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds serves as an exciting confirmation. Deadline said that it is about Captain Christopher Pike and when he manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will also explore Science Officer Spock, Number One and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise and what it was like before Captain Kirk became a member of the starship.

Deadline refrenced a statement from Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and Alex Kurtzman, in which they claimed, “On behalf of the cast and crew of Strange New Worlds, we are thrilled and grateful to continue our voyages together. We can’t wait for you to join us and the crew of the Enterprise on another season of exploration and adventure.”
