The second season of Marvel’s animated series, X-Men 97 has just brought back a galactic villain in its latest episode. According to Comicbook, the villain in question is one of the celestials, Eson the Searcher, who first made a brief cameo in the Guardians of the Galaxy , through a video which shows the cosmic giant demonstrating its destructive power and obliterating an entire civilization with help from the power stone. In this version, the giant still in possession of the infinity stone, had used it to release En Sabah Nur’s, voiced by Adetokumboh M’Cormack (Castlevania, Blood of Zeus) true potential and to transform him into Apocalypse.

Reported by Comicbook, Eson gave their explanations for their actions in being,”All creation must crash against the eternal shore, in order to thrive and grow”, which showcases that they truly believe in evolution, which only thrives in face of adversity. This further demonstrates that they deliberately select the most technologically and socially advanced civilizations to inhabit, while systematically filtering out those that have failed to evolve.

Stated by Comicbook, in the latest episode, Apocalypse uses his newly obtained power to fight against Xavier, voiced by Ross Marquand (Invincible, What If…?); Magneto, voiced by Matthew Waterson (DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, Wizards) which was a one sided battle, ultimately ending with the death of Magneto and leaving Charles stranded in the desolated past alone.

In a surprising post-credits twist, the episode revealed that Pharaoh Rama-Tut—a powerful variant of the time-traveling warlord Kang—was the mastermind pulling the strings all along. Voiced by John de Lancie (Breaking Bad, Legend), this ancient ruler escaped into the timestream to ensure his master plan remains firmly on track.

With a fresh slate of episodes on the horizon, the perilous journey of the titular mutants is far from over; as they venture deeper into the unknown, a wave of formidable new adversaries and unforeseen obstacles promises to push them.
