Sophie Turner is making a return to television, starring in a Quibi thriller series alongside fellow actor Corey Hawkins. This will be her first TV role since Game of Thrones concluded earlier this year. Meanwhile, Hawkins is well known for his role in the critically acclaimed film, Straight Outta Compton.

The show, entitled Survive, has been adapted from Alex Morel’s novel of the same name. The story centers on Jane (Turner), a woman who finds herself in a life or death scenario when her plane crashes on a snowy and desolate mountain. She is joined by Paul (Hawkins), the only other survivor. Together they must fight their way through the wilderness, confronting extreme weather conditions and personal scars.

When asked about the role, Turner had this to say: “I couldn’t be more honored to portray the role of Jane in ‘Survive’ for Quibi,” she said. “She’s a complex character fighting against the odds to not only save her life, but to also find her own source of strength and courage. I only hope this can impact anyone struggling with self-worth to understand they are braver than they know and to seek the support they need.”

Mark Pellington is slated to direct the series. Meanwhile, Jeremy Ungar and Richard Abate will write it. Abate, Ed Jones, and Cary Granat will produce Survive, and Van Toffler, Floris Bauer, and Barry Barclay will serve as the executive producers on behalf of the production company Gunpowder & Sky.

Survive joins dozens of projects currently in development at Quibi. According to Variety, the series will air in April 2020. This comes at time where Quibi, which was founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg, has attracted a sizable amount of A-list individuals. Among its upcoming projects are Steven Spielberg’s After Dark. This horror series will only be available for viewing at night, and has the support of Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, Steven Soderbergh, Catherine Hardwick, Anna Kendrick, Doug Liman, Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media. Also in the works are shows that feature major stars like Don Cheadle, Chrissy Teigen, Idris Elba, and Tyra Banks.
