‘SNL’ Jim Breuer Joins AXS TV’s ‘Gotham Comedy Live’ as Consulting Producer

Saturday Night Live alum Jim Breuer has joined the weekly comedy series.

The stand-up comedian and actor Jim Breuer will be the consulting producer of the uncensored comedy series. Breuer joins the network as the third season of the series will air on January 9 and he will also be the host of the season premiere.

According to Deadline, the franchise received an order of 24 episodes. Breuer will work alongside the producers Chris and Steven Mazzilli, Dave Goldberg and Rob Cea. The SNL alum will also assist in broadening the show’s content and will be the show’s spokesperson.

Michele Dix, AXS TV’s SVP of Programming and Development, said in an announcement that, “Jim Breuer is one of the most charismatic and trusted comedians on the circuit.Not only does he have a clear grasp of what resonates with audiences today, but he represents our channel’s brand with his love and knowledge of rock music,” said Michele Dix, AXS TV’s SVP Programming and Development.”

Gotham Comedy Live produced by Killer Bunny Entertainment and Sugar Hit Entertainment and it is filmed in front of a live audience from New York’s famous Gotham Comedy Club. Each episode features a host who performs a stand-up set with other four comedians.

Breuer has over 20 years of comedy experience and he was a featured player on Saturday Night Live for four years. He also wrote an autobiography titled I’m Not High: (But I’ve Got a Lot of Crazy Stories about Life as a Goat Boy; A Dad, and a Spiritual Warrior). His newest comedy special  Jim Breuer: And Laughter For All was the most watched programs on Netflix in 2013.
