Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s New Series ‘Truth Seekers’ Will Be On Amazon

Simon Pegg, known for his role as Shaun in Shaun Of The Dead, and Nick Frost, who played Ed in Shaun Of The Dead, are releasing a new series titled Truth Seekers on Amazon. The two have appeared side-by-side together in the hit series Spaced and popular movies such as Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End.

Pegg stated, “Nick and I are delighted that Truth Seekers has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

According to Variety, Pegg, Frost, and fellow producing partner, Miles Ketley, formed London-based production company named Stolen Picture, and they set Truth Seekers as an early television project. The company just finished their first film, Slaughterhouse Rulez, which is a horror-comedy that stars Michael Sheen and Asa Butterfield with Pegg and Frost as supporting actors. They are also planning another feature that will star Pegg and Frost as the two reunite with each other after years of separation.

According to Variety, production on Truth Seekers will start in September. The show will feature eight episodes, each running for 30 minutes. Both Pegg and Frost are co-writing the show alongside Sick Note writers Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, who are also executive producers for the show. Ketley and Jim Field Smith, who was the director for She’s Out Of My League, will also executive produce and direct the show. Richard Webb is also producing the show.

Pegg described the show, “Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something. It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. Shaun of the Dead was a very parochial story set in North London and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.”

Georgia Brown, the director of European Amazon Original Series, stated, “We’re thrilled to be working with Simon, Nick and the entire team at Stolen Picture to make what is set to be the next thrilling Amazon Original series for Prime Video made by leading British talent.”

The show will follow Dave, played by Pegg, and his partner Gus, played by Frost. There is not much information yet about Pegg’s character Dave, but Gus is one half of a ghost-hunting duo who has been hired to uncover and film paranormal activity across the U.K. The duo stakes out haunted churches, underground bunkers, and abandoned hospitals with a variety of their homemade gadgets. Everything they film is shared online, and their experiences grow to be more terrifying and deadly as the pair start uncovering a conspiracy that could threaten the human race.

Frost stated, “Simon, Miles, and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making Truth Seekers with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”
