After announcing that the television adaptation would be greenlit by the premium network, Showtime has revealed that actress Madison Taylor Baez (Selena: The Series) will star as the series lead for Let the Right One In, according to a Showtime press release. Originating as a Swedish 2008 horror film and a John Ajvide Lindqvist 2004 novel, Showtime acquired the rights to a television adaptation back in March. The television adaptation will include Andre Hinderraker (Penny Dreadful) as the series’ writer and its showrunner in addition to Seith Mann (Homeland) taking on the director’s chair for the project.

Let the Right One In centers on a tale of an eternal teenage girl who prowls the streets at night as a vampire in addition to being supervised by her father. One night, she happens to encounter a young, lonely teenage boy who happens to be bullied at his local school. The two forge a unique friendship while horror ensues due to the former’s abilities and identify as this supernatural individual. Baez will take on this young vampire named Eleanor and is joined by actor Demián Bichir (Godzilla vs. Kong) as her father; Bichir will also produce the series. Additional cast includes the likes of Jacob Buster (Colony), Grace Gummer (Extant, Frances Ha), Kevin Carroll (Blindspotting), Ian Foreman (Merry Wish-Mas), and Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog, Ralph Breaks the Internet).

Let the Right One In has witnessed a previous American adaptation with the 2010 film starring Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) in Let Me In

Baez first hit the scene with a small role in the short film The Tooth Racket before taking on the role as young Selena in the Netflix original series, Selena: The Series

Currently, it is unknown when the series will begin production in addition to when it will premiere for Showtime, yet expectations are focusing on a 2022 release date.
