Showtime and 343 Industries collaborate to bring Halo forward as TV series. Based on the widely renowned video game franchise, Halo will follow Master Chief aka John-117 and his epic battles in interstellar warfare. Pablo Schreiber will fill in the lead role as one of the most recognizable characters in the gaming world.
The Master Chief is a spartan, a biochemically enhanced super soldier engineered to fight for humanity during the 26th century war involving an alien race called the Covenant. John-117 in particular has been a monumental protagonist in gaming history, allowing the gamer to visualize Halo through his timeless many worlds and arduous missions. The mysterious halo rings, vast worlds, and alien politics in the acclaimed video game series have led to an interesting action sci-fi title beloved to all sorts of fans and most Xbox owners.
The game has made its name known around the world with billions in revenue to back it up. Halo: Combat Evolved was a launch title on the official Xbox and sold in over 50% of all their Xbox consoles at the time. Even today, Microsoft has made Halo a cornerstone of their game marketing. Naturally, comic book series, novels, and even live action series have all been adapted in due time for the popular franchise, but a full fledged movie or TV show has never seen the light of day.
New additions to the show including Danny Sapani, Olive Gray, and Charlie Murphy will join along for the ride. Sapani will play a war hero and father, Captain Jacob Keyes, and Gray will play the daughter, Dr. Miranda Keyes, a UNSC Commander devoted to understanding the Covenant. Murphy will play an orphaned human raised by the covenant who interestingly shares in their contempt against humanity.
In 2013, Showtime acquired the rights from the gaming company, Bungie, to create a show on the series, which is finally making announcements 6 years later. Currently scheduled for an early 2021 release, Halo is adapting the finishing touches and gradually teasing fans with some of the more interesting aspects of the soon-to-be released project.
