Showtime Releasing Premieres of ‘Billions’, ‘Shameless’ Early Online

Showtime is the latest network giving viewers the chance for advance viewing of 2016 shows. The season six premiere of Shameless and series premiere of high-finance drama Billions will be available January 1st on SHO.com, YouTube, Hulu, Roku, and through iTunes as a video podcast.

Billions pits an intense version of Paul Giamatti as a U.S. attorney, against Damien Lewis’s arrogant, powerful hedge fund mogul as they wrestle through the world of New York investments and political leverage.

The Hollywood Reporter shared that the slick series was created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, writers of Rounders, along with New York Times financial journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin. Sorkin wrote the book Too Big to Fail which chronicled the collapse of Lehman Brothers amidst the 2008 financial crisis. It was made into an HBO movie in 2011 starring James Woods and John Heard. Malin Akerman (The Proposal), Toby Leonard Moore (Daredevil), and David Costabile (Suits, Lincoln) also star.

The series premieres January 17, just in time to capitalize on interest generated by current feature film The Big Short, a story based on the collapse of the housing bubble which is earning critical praise.

After leaving a tangle of loose threads involving depression, pregnancy, and all forms of dysfunction last season, Shameless returns to the find the Gallagher’s coping with the return of Frank (William H. Macy). The dark comedy scored an Outstanding Guest Actress Emmy for Joan Cusack last season and Globe and Emmy nominations for William H. Macy.

Shameless returns to Showtime January 10.
