Showtime Releases Official Teaser for Season Two of ‘Yellowjackets’

Per an official press release, Showtime has released the first official teaser for the highly-anticipated second season of the Emmy-nominated drama Yellowjackets. The teaser was revealed on Friday the 13th through the official Yellowjackets social channels in a unique and engaging way, with a flickering candle that melted in real-time for an hour until dawn broke and finally revealed the teaser.

Season two of Yellowjackets will return starting Friday, March 24th on streaming and on demand for all Showtime subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, March 26th at 9 pm ET/PT. Season one of the series, which has a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations, averaged over 5 million weekly viewers across platforms and was the second-most streamed series in Showtime history.

Yellowjackets is a multi-faceted drama that combines elements of survival, psychological horror, and coming-of-age stories. The show follows a group of highly talented high school girls soccer players who are the unfortunate survivors of a plane crash in a remote northern wilderness. The series traces their journey from a cohesive team to becoming savage clans, while also exploring the lives they’ve attempted to rebuild nearly 25 years later, proving that the past can never truly be left behind and what started in the wilderness is far from over.

Produced for Showtime by studio Entertainment One (eOne), Yellowjackets is currently in production in Vancouver. Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), the series stars Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping), Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant) and Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) have also joined the second season as series regulars, along with Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) in a season-long guest arc.
