Disney Channel Announces New Episodes of ‘Phineas and Ferb’

Prepare for 104 days of summer vacation because the beloved Disney Channel series Phineas and Ferb is coming back to the small screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Dan Povenmire (Milo Murphy’s Law, Hamster & Gretel) has signed a deal with Disney to produce forty more episodes of the popular animated series. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Povenmire will deliver two seasons of Phineas and Ferb, which totals 40 episodes of summer adventures, and also a second season of his new animated show Hamster & Gretel. He will also develop other projects with Disney. 

Povenmire has received praise from the president of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, who has said they admire “his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor.”

The show was created by Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (Milo Murphy’s Law, Pete the Cat) and the series premiered on Disney Channel in 2008. Shortly after its premiere, it became one of the most popular shows in Disney Television Animation history. Phineas and Ferb ran for four seasons and had two movies, Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension and Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe. The show has become a beloved series for Millenials and Gen Z. 

Povenmire has also spoken about the return of the series. He said “It has been the greatest pleasure of my career to see how an entire generation of kids and parents have embraced the characters and the humor of Phineas and Ferb.” He has also said that he is eager to show the great inventions of Phineas and Ferb to a new generation. 

According to Deadline, there has been no confirmation on whether or not the original voice cast will return for the new seasons. Although many did return for Candace Against the Universe which came out in 2020. The original voice cast includes Vincent Martella (Batman: Death in the Family, Milo Murphy’s Law) as Phineas Flynn; Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Maze Runner, The Queen’s Gambit) as Ferb Fletcher; Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Carol’s Second Act) as Candace Flynn; Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch, American Dad!) as Perry the Platypus; Povenmire as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz; Alyson Stoner (Pete the Cat, Young Justice) voices Isabella Garcia-Shapiro; Maulik Pancholy (Mira Royal Detective, Only Murders in the Building) who voiced Baljeet Tjinder; Bobby Gaylor (Milo Murphy’s Law, Suckers) as Buford Van Stomm; Olivia Olson (Fast & Furious Spy Racers, Adventure Time) voiced Vanessa Doofenshmirtz; Caroline Rhea (Sydney to the Max, Sabrina the Teenage Witch) as Linda Flynn-Fletcher; Marsh as Major Monogram; Tyler Alexander Mann (Milo Murphy’s Law, Modern Family) who voiced Carl; Mitchell Musso (Pair of Kings, Hannah Montana) voiced Jeremy Johnson and Kelly Hu (The Legend of Vox Machina, The Orville) who voiced Stacy Hirano.

Phineas and Ferb follows two step-brothers who spend their summer vacations building amazing inventions to entertain themselves and their friends. Candace, their older sister, is usually trying to show their mom all the inventions so that she can get her brothers grounded, but she never manages to do it. Perry is the family pet who has a second life as a secret agent and has to protect the tri-state area from the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. 

The new seasons of Phineas and Ferb are still in pre-production and no release date has been announced. All original seasons of Phineas and Ferb as well as their movies are available to stream on Disney+.
