Showtime Releases First Look at Upcoming Series ‘Roadies’

It’s the Grammy Awards season, which means all eyes are currently on the music world. And this makes it the perfect time to release a first look a new show about the music industry. Behold the first official trailer for Showtime’s upcoming series, Roadies.

Showtime announced the first look at the series today in a press release.

Roadies is an hour-long comedy series about (you guessed it) roadies. The show follows the overlooked heroes whose dedication ensures that the show really does go on. These roadies in particular work for The Staton-House Band, a successful arena-level group touring the United States. The series provides an inside look at how their lives, while funny and romantic, are also filled with recklessness and poignancy. Their passion is for the music, but along the way they’ve also become family. As Luis Guzman’s character says in the trailer, “It’s my opinion that in life you need two things to survive: oxygen and family.”

The trailer for Roadies features the song “Hard Sun” by Grammy and Golden Globe winner, Eddie Vedder.

Roadies marks the first television series written, created, directed, and executive produced by Oscar winner Cameron Crowe. Luke Wilson (Old School, Enlightened) and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Carla Gugino (San Andreas) star in the series. Joining Wilson and Gugino in the cast are Imogen Poots (The Look of Love), Rafe Spall (One Day), Academy Award nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles), Colson Baker a.k.a. Machine Gun Kelly (Beyond the Lights), and Ron White (Blue Collar Comedy Tour). Additionally, Luis Guzman (Boogie Nights), Jacqueline Byers (The Strain), Finesse Mitchell (Saturday Night Live), Branscombe Richmond (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), and Tanc Sade (Matador, Gilmore Girls) will guest star.

Emmy and Tony nominee Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life, Wicked) writes for Roadies and will executive produce alongside with Emmy winners J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Lost), Bryan Burk (Lost, Fringe, Person of Interest), and Len Goldstein (Hart of Dixie).

Roadies will premiere on Showtime, on demand, and over the internet on Sunday, June 26. In the meantime, The 58th annual Grammy Awards will broadcast live on the CBS Television Network from the Staples Center in Los Angeles Monday, Feb. 15.
