On Friday, Showtime released the first teaser for the sixth season of its Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama Homeland. While the series’ last two seasons shot abroad in South Africa and Berlin, the show is currently in production in New York.
Homeland, a production of Fox 21 Television Studios, was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff. Homeland boasts an outstanding cast which includes Claire Danes, Rupert Friend, Elizabeth Marvel, F. Murray Abraham, and Mandy Patinkin.
Season six picks up months after Carrie Mathison (Danes) stopped a terrorist attack in Berlin. She is back in the US, living in Brooklyn, New York having landed herself a job at a foundation that aids Muslims living in the U.S. This season will explore the effects and hysteria of the U.S. presidential election, as the entire season takes place between election day and the inauguration.
This season’s guest stars include Hill Harper (Limitless), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) and Dominic Fumusa (NURSE JACKIE). Along with Gansa and Gordon, the exec producers for season six will be Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Michael Klick, Patrick Harbinson, Claire Danes, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem. Homeland has already been renewed for two additional seasons past season six.
