Showtime Cancels ‘Black Monday,’ ‘Work In Progress’

Showtime has canceled comedies Black Monday and Work in Progress, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe cancellations will leave Showtime with a small roster of half-hour scripted series, including Back to Life, Flatbush Misdemeanors, and the upcoming The Curse.

Black Monday, which aired for three seasons, starred Don Cheadle (Iron Man) and Andrew Rannells (Big Mouth), and chronicled the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street in October, 1987. The stars also included Regina Hall (Girls Trip), Paul Scheer (The League), and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings).

“We can confirm that Black Monday will not be moving forward with a fourth season,” Showtime said in a statement, via The Hollywood Reporter.” Don Cheadle, Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells, Paul Scheer and Casey Wilson led a fantastic cast, and we are grateful to Jordan Cahan, David Caspe and all who worked on the show for three hilarious seasons.”

Work in Progress, which starred Abby McEnany (Nice Shirt), Theo Germaine (The Politician), and Karin Anglin (Teacher), followed a 45-year-old Abby who becomes involved in a vibrantly transformative relationship after suffering a series of misfortunes.
