‘Shipwrecked’ to be Adapted for Russian TV

International TV production and distribution shingle Zodiak Media has agreed to adapt two of its top U.S. shows for the Russian market, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In a deal signed with Russian broadcaster NTV, Zodiak Vostok, Zodiak Media’s Russian production unit, will produce local versions of hit shows Don’t Forgot the Lyrics and Shipwrecked.

Both shows will be produce through Mastiff, the company’s owned production unit. The shows are scheduled to air on NTV later this year.

Don’t Forget the Lyrics originally aired on Fox from July 2007 to June 2009. The show has sold to over 70 countries with the format picked up by 23 countries.

Shipwrecked features tribes of attractive people living in what is said to be an idyllic island community. New members join the group each week.

The show originally a hit in the U.K., where it aired on Channel 4 for eight seasons between 2000 and 2011, with over 112 episodes, explains The Hollywood Reporter. Shipwrecked has sold to 230 countries worldwide.

In addition to Don’t Forget the Lyrics and Shipwrecked, Zodiak Media is also responsible for popular shows Wife Swap, Wallander and Born Survivor: Bear Grylls.
