Shawn Levy, Nick Jonas to Produce New Netflix Young Adult Series ‘Dash & Lily’

Netflix will soon be releasing a new young adult series entitled Dash & Lily. The series is a romantic comedy from Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and Nick Jonas’ Image 32.

The series starring Austin Abrams (Euphoria, This Is Us) and Midori Francis (Good Boys, Ocean’s Eight) as the protagonists, is adapted from the book Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. The show will be an eight episode, half hour series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The most essential quality of 21 Laps shows and films is heart, and Dash & Lily has that quality in spades,” said producer Shawn Levy. “Josh Barry and I are thrilled to be starting production with such an exceptional group of collaborators on and off screen — from writer/showrunner Joe Tracz to our talented directors, incredible cast, and of course, our producing partner, Nick Jonas. This show is inspiring to us and promises to give audiences a uniquely romantic and entertaining New York City holiday adventure.”

Dash & Lily is the fifth Netflix series Levy has worked on. He signed big overall deal with the streaming service  in 2017 and has emerged as one of its most prolific producers, according to Deadline. Levy’s company is also currently developing a limited series based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize winning bestseller, All The Light We Cannot See

The series is described to be “a whirlwind christmas romance following cynical Dash and optimistic Lily, as the characters trade notes in a book they pass back and forth, at locations all across New York City,” according to the official Netflix synopsis.

Abrams and Francis are joined by series regulars Dante Brown (Lethal Weapon, MA) playing Dash’s best friend, Troy Iwata (New Amsterdam, Be More Chill) as Lily’s older brother and recurring actors Keana Marie (Huge in France), James Saito (Always Be My Maybe) and Jodi Long (Sullivan & Son).

The series reunites Levy and Jonas who previously worked together on the 2009 fantasy comedy Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. The film was directed and produced by Levy, featuring a cameo by the Jonas Brothers as cupids.
