Sexist comments on Fox News spurs debate between Megyn Kelly, Erick Erickson & Lou Dobbs

On a recent live airing of Fox News’ Lou Dobbs Tonight, Erick Erickson and Lou Dobbs made several sexist remarks concerning a Pew study regarding the role of women and money in households across America. Megyn Kelly clearly did not agree with the stance the two men took, and was not afraid to be vocal about it.

The Hollywood Reporter states the Pew study “found women to be the primary breadwinner in 40 percent of households with children,” to which Dobbs responded, “We’re watching society dissolve around us.” Erickson added, “When you look at biology, look at the natural world, the roles of a male and a female in society and in other animals, the male typically is the dominant one.” He went on to say, “Three-quarters of the people of the survey recognized that having mom’s as the primary breadwinner is bad for kids and bad for marriage, and reality shows us that’s the truth.”

Kelly responded to the men with, “What makes you dominant and me submissive, and who died and made you scientist in chief?” She went on to say, “I didn’t like what you wrote one bit. To me you sound like somebody who’s judging and then wants to come out and say ‘I’m not, I’m not, I’m not, and now let me judge judge judge, and by the way it’s science it’s science it’s science it’s fact fact fact fact. Well, I have a whole list of studies saying your science is wrong and your facts are wrong,” according to the Huffington Post.

Another Fox News host, Greta Van Susteren also weighed in on the debate on her blog on foxnewsinsider.com. She wrote, “Have these men lost their minds? (and these are my colleagues??!! oh brother… maybe I need to have a little chat with them (next thing they will have a segment to discuss eliminating women’s right to vote?)” Her post initiated an on-going debate within the comments section among viewers of the original clip.
