‘Band Of Brothers’ Cast Reunites To Look Back 25 Years Later In ‘Legacy’ Documentary

HBO Max is marking the 25th anniversary of Band of Brothers with a new documentary looking back at the acclaimed HBO limited series and the real-life history behind it. According to a Warner Bros. Discovery press release, Band of Brothers: Legacy will premiere September 9th on HBO and HBO Max, coinciding with the original series’ quarter-century anniversary. View the trailer below.

The documentary will revisit the making of Band of Brothers while examining the series’ impact since its release. The original series helped preserve the story of Easy Company and brought wider attention to the experiences and sacrifices of the soldiers who served during World War II. Legacy will bring several cast members back to reflect on their time making the series and its continued connection with audiences.

The documentary features new interviews with Damian Lewis (Homeland, Billions), Ron Livingston (Office Space, A Million Little Things), Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead, Southland), Dale Dye (Saving Private Ryan, Platoon) and David Schwimmer (Friends, American Crime Story), among others.

Through the new interviews, the cast will share personal memories and behind-the-scenes stories from production. Band of Brothers: Legacy will also feature never-before-seen archival footage and photographs of Easy Company and World War II.

Former Green Beret Chase Millsap (No Greater Love, The Captain’s Story) directs the documentary. Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump) and Gary Goetzman (The Pacific, Masters of the Air) executive produce for Playtone. Kirk Saduski (The Pacific, Masters of the Air), Richard Arlook (The Mosquito Coast, The Lucky Ones) and Sean Mullin (Amira & Sam, Kings of Beer) serve as producers. Spencer Millsap serves as director of photography and editor.

HBO Max is also adding more material to commemorate the anniversary. The streamer will also launch “In the Company of Heroes,” an in-app collection featuring documentaries and other titles inspired by true stories.

The original Band of Brothers is currently available to stream on HBO Max, giving viewers a chance to revisit the limited series ahead of the anniversary. Band of Brothers: Legacy premieres September 9th on HBO and HBO Max, bringing its cast back together to reflect on the production while keeping the story of Easy Company at the center of the celebration.
