Series Based on the YA Novel ‘Felix Ever After’ by Kacen Callender In Development at Amazon

Field Trip Productions and Amazon Studios are adapting Kacen Callender‘s novel Felix Ever After into TV show, according to Deadline. The young adult novel was published on May 5th, 2020.

The main character of the novel is a boy named Felix Love. The story follows his path of finding love. Felix feels the odds are stacked against him since he is Black, queer, and transgender. When a bully harasses him because of his transgender identity and uses his dead name, Felix comes up with a plan to catfish the bully and get revenge. The twist is that Felix ends up falling in love with him. His journey involves a lot of self-discovery and determining how he truly feels about himself.

Callender is a children’s fiction author. They are known for winning the Stonewall Book Award and Lamda Literary Award for their book Hurricane Child. The middle grade novel is about a boy who is born during a hurricane and believes he is cursed.

They have a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and Creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College and a MFA from The New School. Callender uses they/them pronouns. Other books by Callender include This Is Kinda An Epic Love Story, Queen of the Conquered, and King and the Dragonflies.
