‘See’ Starring Jason Momoa Gets Its First Trailer and Release Date

At keynote event on Tuesday, Apple released the first trailer for its forthcoming dramatic series See. The show, which stars Aquaman’s Jason Momoa, will debut in tandem with streaming service Apple TV+ on November 1st. The eight-episode series depicts a dystopian world 600 years in the future in which a virus has wiped out huge swaths of humanity and left its survivors blind. As a result of this cataclysm, humanity has regressed to a tribal state.

Momoa stars as Baba Voss, a warrior whose wife gives birth to twins with the ability to see: something that has become the stuff of legend. When the powerful ruler Queen Kane learns of this, she decides that the gift of sight is a danger to mankind, and seeks the twins’ capture. As the Queen’s armies amass to do her bidding, Voss must rally his own tribe and protect his children, that they might use their abilities to build a brighter future for humanity. In flashes, the trailer depicts the violent conflict that ensues.

During his address, Apple CEO Tim Cook described See as “one of the most imaginative, thrilling, and thought provoking dramas ever.” He went on to outline the efforts the show made toward accuracy, touting, “We have worked with blind and low vision cast, crew, and consultants who provided the detail and the authenticity for how this world should be defined.”

The series comes from the mind of Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who serves as writer and executive producer on See. Serving as director and joining Knight as EP is Francis Lawrence, known for directing multiple films in the Hunger Games franchise. The show is produced by Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content.

Joining Mamoa in the cast are Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage, Empire), Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Hera Hilmar, Yadira Guevara-Prip (Star Trek: Discovery), Christian Camargo (Penny DreadfulThe Hurt Locker), Nesta Cooper (Travelers), and Archie Madekwe (Midsommar).

See premieres on November 1st on Apple TV+.
