Season Two of TBS Comedy ‘Chad’ Will No Longer Air on the Network

TBS canceled its original series, Chad, hours before its premiere date. The cable network is now working to find a new home for the comedy series. “As we continue to assess content and implement a new strategy for our network, we can now share that season two of Chad will not air on TBS,” a TBS spokesperson shared with Deadline. They continued, “We are proactively exploring various options to find the right home for it.” Chad’s first season premiered on April 6th, 2021.

Chad is helmed by Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad, who created, starred in, and executive produced the series. Pedrad’s additional credits include New Girl, Scream Queens, and People of Earth. Pedrad plays the title character of Chad, an awkward fourteen-year-old boy who struggles to fit in at school while coming to understand his Persian identity. The series stems from Pedrad’s own experiences as an immigrant teenager.

TBS hopes to maintain a positive relationship with Pedrad following the cancellation, stating to Deadline: “We celebrate and thank Nasim Pedrad, the passionate creator, executive producer, and star of the series, for sharing a bold, unexpected coming of age story with heart and humor.” Chad also stars Saba Homayoon (NCIS: Los Angeles), Paul Chahidi (Good Omens), Ella Mika (Birds of Prey), Jake Ryan (Eighth Grade), Thomas Barbusca (Black Monday), and Alexa Loo (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). Fans of Pedrad can also hear her voice-over work in the recent series Pretzel and the Puppies on Apple TV+ and The Boys Presents: Diabolical on Prime Video.

Chad has received positive critical reviews; Hollywood Critics Association also nominated Chad for Best Comedy Cable Series in their 2021 television awards.
