‘Loot’ Renewed For Season Two By Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has renewed their workplace comedy series, Loot, for a second season, according to Deadline. The renewal comes just weeks after the show premiered on June 24th.

The comedy stars Maya Rudolph (Grown Ups), who also executive produces for the show alongside her production partner Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) for Animal Pictures. This renewal also comes after Rudolph and Lyonne’s production company signed a first-look deal with Apple TV+ just last month.

Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming for Apple TV+, released a statement via Deadline on the show’s renewal.

“Thanks to Maya, Alan, Matt, and the entire incredibly talented Loot cast and creative team who have created a show filled with captivating and endearing characters, and hilarious and heartwarming moments throughout each episode,” Cherniss said. “This show has captured the hearts of global audiences, and we can’t wait for season two.”

Starring in Loot alongside Rudolph is Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Pose), Joel Kim Booster (Sunnyside), Nat Faxon (Father Of The Year), Ron Funches (Undateable), and Stephanie Styles (Booksmart).

Deadline provided a description for the series: “Rudolph stars as billionaire Molly Novak, who has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a gigayacht — anything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years betrays her, she spirals publicly, becoming fuel for tabloid fodder. She’s reaching rock bottom when she learns, to her surprise, that she has a charity foundation run by the no-nonsense Sofia Salinas (Rodriguez), who pleads with Molly to stop generating bad press. With her devoted assistant Nicholas (Kim Booster) by her side, and with the help of Sofia and team — including mild-mannered accountant Arthur (Faxon) and her optimistic, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard (Funches) — Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Giving back to others might be what she needs to get back to herself.”

In addition to Rudolph and Lyonne, executive producers for the show include Alan Yang (Master Of None), Matt Hubbard (30 Rock), Danielle Renfrew Behrens (November), and Dave Becky (Insecure).

The first five episodes of Loot are now available to stream on Apple TV+, with a new episode of the ten-episode first season releasing every Friday.
