Season Three Teaser Trailer And Release Date Drops For Amazon’s ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’

Fans finally have a glimpse at the third season of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The teaser trailer for season three debuted on Monday, offering a look at Midge (Rachel Brosnahan)’s life on tour as a standup comedian.

All three seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel centers on Brosnahan’s character, a recently divorced Jewish American woman who trades in her comfortable life as a housewife for New York City’s stand up comedy scene in the 1950s. Since the series debut in 2018, the comedy has attracted critical acclaim for its sharp humor, writing, and outstanding performances. Ben Travers of IndieWire praised its first season in a review that read, “With a much-needed message for our times, a talented ensemble cast, and the period appeal of a Mad Men-with-a-feminine-flair production design, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is well on its way to becoming the next obsession for Gilmore Girls devotees.”

Following up on promises made in season two, the trailer depicts Midge and her manager Susie (Alex Borstein) on the road with singer Shy Baldwin (Leroy McClain). The tour takes them to Miami, the primary setting for much of season three, and offers Midge a chance to board a USO tour to meet U.S. military troops. Sterling K. Brown will join the season three cast of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s hit comedy, but his role has yet to be announced. Tony Shalhoub, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak and Marin Hinkle will all make return appearances in season three.

Brown first discussed his role in April, saying “The Palladinos were kind enough to write a little something for your boy, and I said yes. I’m gettin’ together with Midge, and it’s going to be awesome.” The “Palladinos” refer to executive producers of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino.

The teaser trailer for season three trails the announcement of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s impressive 20 Emmy nominations for season two. By comparison, its first season took home eight Emmy awards: Brosnahan and Borstein both won for best supporting and lead role in a comedy series, and the production boasted an Emmy award for best comedy series.

Season three of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel airs on December 6th on Amazon.
